Pair of William IV Mahogany Carvers – SOLD
A clean pair of William IV mahogany carvers with relatively little historical repair work.
Like all William IV mahogany carvers, they were almost certainly made as part of a large set of dining chairs in the days when domestic arrangements had changed with the introduction of a dining room.
In the photographs the front legs are shown having worn down by about 3/4″ a common fault which has been rectified since while the chairs were in the workshop being prepared for sale.
The standard colour calibration chart seen in one of the pictures is a device used by restorers and conservers to record the exact colours of pieces of furniture.
They are waiting to be thoroughly checked over in the workshop and re-polished – the loose seats will be covered with a fabric of the buyer’s choice.
