Details of Chair 1536
An Outstanding Single Regency Parlour Chair
Details: An English early 19th century parlour chair of top quality waiting for restoration and re-upholstery. It was made about the time the supposedly mad king George III died and was succeeded by his eldest son George IV.
It is very close to designs shown in J Lovegrove Holt’s “Modern furniture” published about 1820.
Unfortunately chairs of this quality are becoming quite rare now: In the roughly two hundred years since it was made, the frame has, apparently never need repair and the original corner braces are still present. The buttoned green leather upholstery is not the original but I think it’s in keeping with styles of around 1820.
The frame will be cleaned and re-polished prior to re-upholstery with a fabric of new owner’s choice.
