Walnut tripod table
Details: I suspect the three shoot walnut pod base with its barley-twist column started life as a pole screen: its probably Georgian but the walnut bur veneered top is a later addition. Pole screens were intended to protect the ladies’ wax make-up from the heart of the fire so when more durable cosmetics became available, the pole-screens were no longer required. Recycling isn’t a modern innovation. The top has been French polished to a highly reflective finish.
